Life Is A Grind

Life's a grind, and the Cape Flats is where the strong are forged. It's where the pressure's on, and you either rise to the challenge or break under the weight. I was once on my knees, bleeding out, and staring death in the face. But in that moment, I wasn't thinking 'bout the mistakes I'd made – I was thinking 'bout the opportunities I'd let slip away. The good deeds left undone, the love unshown, the dreams unchased. That's what broke me. Not the bullets, not the pain, but the 'what ifs' and 'could've beens'. You see, when you're from the Flats, you learn to find strength in the struggle. You learn to hustle, and to overcome. And when you finally make it out, you don't forget where you came from – you use those lessons to lift others up.
